FAQ – Yacht Mermaid Entertainment
Q: Can the performance take place at anchor, or only dockside in a port?
A: Both are possible: dockside in a port or marina, or at anchor at sea. My only requirement is that sea conditions are calm enough to ensure both safety and the quality of the performance.
Q: What size yacht is required for a mermaid performance ?
A: There is no minimum yacht size, depending on the type of performance requested. However, the yacht must have a swim platform or stern ladder, and assistance from the crew is required.
Q: How do you get on board and return to the water ?
A: I use the yacht’s swim platform or stern ladder to enter and leave the water discreetly, without disturbing your guests or interrupting the atmosphere of the event.
Q: What happens if the sea is rough or the weather is bad ?
A: Safety always comes first. If conditions are unsuitable, several alternatives are possible: the performance can be rescheduled, adapted to an onboard swimming pool, replaced with an out-of-water entertainment option, or refunded if none of these solutions is suitable.
Q: Is a safety professional present during the performance ?
A: When children are in the water, I am accompanied by a qualified lifeguard, unless a suitably trained person is already present on board, such as a member of the crew. For an adults-only event where guests remain out of the water, I can perform independently.
Q: How much does a mermaid performance on a yacht cost ?
A: Prices start from €790, including travel within 10 km of Grimaud.
Q: Does the price include travel to the port or marina ?
A: Travel is included within a 10 km radius of Grimaud. Beyond this area, an additional travel charge of €0.70 per kilometre applies.
Q: How far in advance should I book ?
A: I recommend booking several weeks in advance, and ideally at least one month ahead during major French Riviera events such as the Cannes Yachting Festival or Monaco Yacht Show, when availability can fill very quickly. Last-minute enquiries are, of course, also welcome.
Q: What exactly does the yacht mermaid experience include ?
A: This is much more than a simple appearance. I make a graceful entrance directly from the water, immediately capturing your guests’ attention, followed by time for interaction and photographs either on board or from the deck. Each performance is designed to create a memorable surprise and is adapted to the atmosphere of your event.
Q: Can guests swim with the mermaid ?
A: Yes. Whenever guests enter the water with me, a qualified lifeguard must be present, either arranged by me or already available on board. When I am the only person in the water and the audience consists of adults remaining on board, I can perform independently.
Q: How long does the performance last ?
A: For a child’s birthday, I usually remain at the yacht for between 30 minutes and 1 hour: approximately 10 minutes swimming around the yacht, followed by time on deck for photographs, a special gift and mermaid make-up for the birthday child, before I return to the sea. For an adult evening event, the performance can consist of one or several appearances of approximately 10 minutes each, with photographs on board between appearances.
Q: Can a professional photographer or videographer capture the experience ?
A: Yes. I work with a professional photographer and videographer who can accompany me and capture these special moments. This is an optional paid service, with several packages available depending on your requirements.
Q: Is the performance suitable for adult events, VIP parties and cocktails, or only for children ?
A: Absolutely. The yacht experience is designed for adult events as well as family celebrations: private parties, cocktails, onboard receptions, VIP birthdays, luxury corporate events and children’s birthdays. Every performance is tailored to the guests and atmosphere of the event.
Q: How many guests can attend the performance ?
A: This depends on the size of the yacht and the layout of your event. I can adapt the performance for an intimate gathering or a reception with several dozen guests. The ideal format is discussed according to your yacht and guest numbers.
Q: Are you insured and qualified for this type of performance?
A: Yes. I hold professional liability insurance covering my professional activities and performances at sea near boats and yachts. I am also an experienced freediver.
Q: Are there any special safety precautions around the yacht’s hull or propellers?
A: Yes. The yacht’s engines must remain completely switched off throughout the performance.
Q: Do you perform in Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Antibes ?
A: Yes. I offer yacht mermaid performances throughout the French Riviera, including Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Antibes, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the wider Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
Q: Can the performance be provided in English for international guests ?
A: Yes. I can communicate with your guests in English and provide the performance for an international audience, although I am not fully bilingual.
Q: Are you available during major yachting events such as the Monaco Yacht Show or Cannes Yachting Festival ?
A: Yes. I am available for private and professional events taking place around major French Riviera events such as the Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show and Monaco Grand Prix. These periods are particularly busy, so early booking is strongly recommended.
